The war on women in the Middle East
"Why do they hate us?"
The real war on women is in the Middle East.

RE: The war on women in the Middle East
Thank you for sharing that story.

Nearly all the news events she mentioned in the article, I'd read separately in the media, and I've always been baffled at the lack of outrage in the West against this type of barbarism against women. In the name of some sort of misunderstood tolerance, so many in the USA refuse to speak out about the evils perpetrated against women in the Middle East.

As much as we (rightfully) complain about being forced to ski wearing culottes, it doesn't compare to lawmakers encouraging female genital mutilation to keep their daughters from being "tempted" sexually.

I'm very pleased -- although "pleased" seems the wrong word for such a horrific story -- that this article was written and published. I'm tired of crimes being covered up or ignored or excused away because "well, that's just their culture." Bull. A crime is a crime. Evil is evil. And that is evil.

"Do not look so sad. We shall meet soon again.” “Please, Aslan,” said Lucy, “what do you call soon?” “I call all times soon,” said Aslan.

RE: The war on women in the Middle East
The parallels between Christian Fundamentalism and Islamic Fundamentalism in women's issues are scary. The severity is metered by social, cultural and legal norms between societies. Just because the execution is more severe in Afghanistan or Somalia, it doesn't change the fact that western and eastern subjugation of women share a common, evil root.

RE: The war on women in the Middle East
Middle East - Mostly Islam - good

United States - Mostly Christian - bad

The good news is that Christ died for all of you........not just some of you!
