Gibbs has a history of defending naughty pastors who should never be in a pulpit - namely the wicked and perverted Bob Gray (FL). He has some pretty low standards IMHO.

See this post from the mother of a couple of Bob Gray's child-victims:

"You must be kidding, where does God give a time limit on when his wrath will come. I believe part of his judgement is coming now. And for the record it wasn't thirty years for my girls, more like 20 when we first talked with the Pastor and Willinger. We got in touch with the Church because I really trusted them to do the right thing, I mean after all they "are Christians" and have taught us over the years right from wrong! They sent Gibb's II and Gibb's III, a retired detective and some lady to our house over 5 hours away. We thought it was a good thing and they were on our side, after all this man molested my daughters! They( Messer & Lillinger) admitted to me and my husband they knew about what Gray had done but retired him and sent him to Germany for the "sake of the Church and the Cause of Christ". I was so upset I told Willinger he had NO RIGHT to take a criminal matter into his own hands....it wasn't just a "sin" he could ask forgiveness for. I don't believe God forgave him anyway,he didn't turn away from his sin, he did it over and over again. And another thing for the record until my girls told me about what Gray had done we didn't know "any" of the viticms and had moved away years before....we knew nothing of it, they thought they were the only victims. Stop kicking your wounded bothers and sister's in Christ! Why don't the good Christian men get a backbone and stand-up for whats right instead of closing your eyes, your ears, your voice> GET A BACKBONE!

I hate to say anything bad about this lady, but i find it disturbing she didn't immediately contact the AUTHORITIES. Who knows what kind of crimes real detectives might have unearthed.

Finding out that sort of news is very shocking. It can honestly incapacitate you. And most religious people, when they get some shocking news, feel like they can trust their priest or pastor and go to them for comfort. Doesn't mean they weren't going to go the authorities. But they didn't think the pastor would get involved in the situation and mess things up, either. Sometimes you need someone you can trust to help you get through the tough times as you go about doing the right things. Cause those things are hard!

which is why it is just so shocking and devastating that so many pastors cannot be trusted.

There are so many things I wish I could go back and do differently. Hindsight is a beautiful gift. And a curse.

This is true. I had a family member who was molested. When she decided to go to the authorities she talked to her preacher first. Since her rapist was a fundy mog her pastor circled the wagons and messed things up for her greatly.

RE: "Dr" David Gibbs
Pastors love the CLA because when they write the incorporation papers for the church they give the pastor all the power. He is the president of the corporation and basically can legally do whatever he pleases. Not a shred of scripture to back it up but hey when did a lack of scripture ever get in the way of doing right by the mog!

RE: "Dr" David Gibbs
Just to straighten things out which might be confusing re: the Chappell's. Larry Chappell is Mark Chappell's father (who both were in Long Beach).
Paul Chappell is in Lancaster, and he has a son in the ministry with him named Larry also.

RE: "Dr" David Gibbs
Also David Gibbs (not sure which one of them) represented Larry Chappell and Mark Chappell when they had to leave Long Beach Church.
"Friends" and "cover-ups" you know!

I did not know this...but am not surprised. Like I said earlier, David Gibbs and Paul Chappell are besties.

Why did Larry and Mark need the legal services of Gibbs? Was there a lawsuit or was Gibbs just working hard to keep these known adulterers in the pastorate of Long Beach?

Email from current pastor at Heritage Baptist Church

Dear Brother xxxxxxx

I am deeply grieved with the situation you are currently dealing with concerning Mark Chappell. I have only been the pastor here since 1998. As I mentioned to the other man from your church, I have had the sad duty to counsel with two of the teen girls, who are now grown and married, who were affected by the abuse. As of 5 years ago, the one lady was still cutting her arms with a razor as a result of the deeper wounds the abuse inflicted upon her. The former pastor was a close friend of Mark's father. It appears that in an effort to be kind to his friend, they decided to hush up the matter rather than deal with it properly. I am not even sure what the legal requirements were in 1989.

Sadly, I inherited the mess that the former pastor left behind in his wake as he too had some issues with a secretary. Most of the people from that era are gone. As far as I can ascertain, the church in general was kept in the dark about the extent of the abuse and were told to trust the pastor which they did. There do not seem to be any written records of the matter in any of the minutes of the church or in any other file.

I am not sure if any of the family members involved would be willing to talk about it. The parents of the one young lady have both passed away and the father of the other is so very private that I doubt if he will talk. Those two are the only ones that I have direct knowledge of.

I am praying for the Lord's wisdom for you and your church. I have spent the past 14 years picking up the pieces and I have seen the Lord's grace and mercy at work in rebuilding His church here.

If you would like to call me, my cell phone number is xxxxxxxxx

In His Care,

Pastor Thomas E. Bish

Ugh

It is sickening the former pastor would cover for his buddy's son in this way. He just totally threw those poor girls under the bus!

It makes me even sicker that the deacon board at Freeway Baptist Church can not care any less about this! What horrible wicked deacons they are!!! (IMHO)

Why is David Gibbs named in this? Was he involved too? Based on his involvement in the Bob Gray (FL) and Dave Hyles situations / alleged cover-ups, it would not surprise me one bit if he was involved in this alleged wickedness too.
