God's Jealousy
I was reading on a Christian site recently that was describing God's jealousy.
It was saying that it's not envy but a feeling of entitlement, so to speak. They said God owns us and therefore the jealousy is justified. Then, they went on to say that it's just like in a marriage. I'm sorry, but I refuse to approach my relationship with my husband as ownership. I don't own him. He's my partner and we are legally kin, and if he does anything for me, then I hope it's out of his free will. There are no expectations or feelings of entitlement. And, if God looks at us as entitlement, then why does he give us a free will? |

Quote:Then, they went on to say that it's just like in a marriage. Yes the analogy breaks down at that point, as analogies tend to do. The marriage is only a picture of Christ's love for us not his right of ownership as Creator. I always thought that God's jealousy was expressed when you left His church, which of course is the IFB (did I even have to clarify?), and went to a Methodist, Luthern, Non-denom, Catholic etc etc. church. And then God strikes you dead in a horrible accident involving a clown car and a Shriner's tricycle. Flying a plane is no different than riding a bicycle, just a lot harder to put baseball cards in the spokes. |

RE: God's Jealousy
Well, if you're a heathen anyway, it doesn't apply.
I'm just glad I qualify. Makes life easier.
