SFL- Not Checking Snopes

I know that fundies aren't the only people who don't check the validity before reposting something on facebook, but they seem to be worse than the average population. This is the one I've seen several times in the last couple days.

Oh my goodness.....someone got mad at me last night for telling them that the Einstein deal never happened, and that the argument had a couple of problems(I didn't say what was wrong with it....just said that in my opinion it had problems).

Oh, but they can't check snopes! Snopes is run by libruls, dontcha know. (spelling on purpose).

Some of them, if they bother to do so, check this site: Truth Or Fiction. It's not run by those bleedin' heart libruls, the Mickelsons, haymen?

Ugh. And if you point out that Snopes shows X forward is completely made-up, you might get the response a fellow teacher did: "Well, it doesn't matter if it's true or not. I just agree with the message." O.k. Good to know....

I get that response from my Aunt Forwards Email (it might as well be her name...it is the only way anyone ever hears from her anymore) all the time.

It irritates me so much. Truth does matter. And it seems that our whole society has decided it doesn't. Or that it is a matter of feelings not facts. I pointed out a bothersome (to her) fact to someone recently and the response was "I'm sorry you feel that way". No, damn it, I don't FEEL that way, the matter is a FACT.

I know I've posted this before somewhere. When I challenged my MIL on an email and sent her the snopes link her response back was how can we trust snopes. Of course there were lots of !!!??? That she loves to use any time she feels challenged.
