But I'm disgusted at their disregard for the truth of scripture.

Oh yes, I agree. Sadly, nobody in the audience would question it. It has to be right, it exactly fits with everything they've ever heard in church. Sometimes I feel very depressed when I think about the sheeple.

RE: WCBC: Youth Conference this week
One of the speakers is our ex-pastor and the church sends a large group of kids every year. I know because I hear about how wonderful the conference is daily on fb. They really have no idea how they are being manipulated. Curious to see if Skelly follows suit and piles on the guilt disguised as "God's will." Many of the teens from the church have attended WCBC. He is a Hyles man himself.

There is a connection there between him and WCBC that I suspect is not fully disclosed. Per the M-o-g's (Skelly) "request" the church diverts a small amount of money from the missions fund to WCBC every month. I'm still uncertain as to whether this has been made public knowledge to the church membership. The deacons approved rationalizing that, "if God has laid it on the pastor's heart to financially support WCBC then it must be God's will....blah blah blah..."

When I lived in WI we were subjected to Goetsch's preaching. That was before he was Ultra-fundy. Rolleyes

What amazed me last night was how much scripture was spoken, but how little of it was actually exposited (if any).

It was Goetsch last night.

Same basic Youth Conference message, just using new Scriptures that are not actually applicable to the student's college/life choice. I have heard it so many times.

Based on past experience, I can imagine how the whole thing will go down:

That bowl over there might seem like a good idea (let's say secular college or military), but is that God's best or are you just settling for something that is merely good for this moment?

Or are you going to take the bowl of surrender, which is God's perfect will for your life? God's best. Surrender your first year of college to God and let Him work in you. Go 4 years - make a real difference - have a life that is set apart, the best life God offers. Why would you settle for less than God's best?

Sigh

Cliche after cliche

I have seen kids who had secular college and career plans in place get derailed by their manipulation. Can you imagine turning down a secular college scholarship for an unaccredited Fundy U?

I might try listening tonight, but the twitching is gonna be bad.

Or are you going to take the charge of life and buy this Bently, which is the pinnacle of manliness? Engineering's best. Surrender your paycheck for the next 20 years and see how the chicks fall all over you. Have a life set apart from those Prius drivers! Why would you settle for less than engineering's best?

Man I hate car salesman...
