I would know, I went to a similar conference like WCBC's from 7th to 12th grade. I have a couple booklets that contain sermon notes I wrote down. A majority of the sermons are huge emotionally manipulative pep rallies rather than sermons. The biggest rallies: 1. Soul winning 2. Surrender to preach/to be a missionary/to be a full-time Christian servant 3. Stay in the IFB church and obey your pastor's every word or you'll become an atheist/bitter rebel/New Evangelical/etc. 4. Finding God's will. Because God's will is only 3 things: going to the right college, choosing the right career (anything in the ministry, anything else isn't God's will), and choosing the right spouse. 5. Staying pure "Act as if what you do makes a difference. It does." |

I had chapel notebooks in college, although that was only because they decided they needed to make sure we were paying attention. I think it was my last two years. Once or twice a semester they would collect them and take a look at our notes. I know a couple people who got demerits for using some of the back pages for passing notes. I really don't remember much of them and I tossed each notebook after the semester ended. boymom: What in the thelogical region of eternal punishment is a daddy-daughter ball? amyrose5:No one is in charge around here. Except maybe the rabbit. He thinks he is. But we do keep him in a cage, so that limits his real control. |
