Actually, it's a fairly common practice among some people. Not everybody reacts to death the same or copes with it the same. Some people believe that dressing and holding and interacting with a dead child is the best way to get closure. In some part of Appalachia they have their children come kiss the corpse of a family member who died to say goodbye.

You may want to do a little reading on death and funeral rites around the world before you just start assigning narrow-minded labels. Just because it skeeves you out doesn't make it sick or damaging. Maybe the real sickness is trying to pretend that a baby who died was never a person and never existed.
