Was it a good movie after reading the book? I never read the book. Just saw the movie. Usually after reading the book, the movie is a huge let-down.

The movie was worthy of the book. In my mind, similar to any of the Harry Potter series or To Kill a Mockingbird, very true to the book.

Yes, but what if I put just a "little bit of dog poop" on your plate.

I can't see the video, so I don't know if you
are serious or sarcastic. But I avoid nudity because I have no business looking at a woman's breasts unless I were married and they were my wife's.

ok, disturbing. It was very disturbing. The violence, the rape.

Sarcastic. The "little bit of poop" is an overused fundy analogy that is used in this video against watching movies.

Oh, ok. I have heard it used in the same vein. "What if I made brownies and only added a little bit of Poop?" Would you eat them?

Hm, I think an episode of LAW AND ORDER SVU could easily give it a run for its money these days. Some of that stuff BOTHERS me, since I think it is presented to titillate. Kubrick meant for that to disturb you, not turn you on.

Anthony Burgess (author of the novel) was a prophet.. Now there is no "evil"-- everyone is considered "sick" instead... he was warning everyone about this long before anybody else. They thought he was exaggerating, in fact, back in 1971 or whenever it was.

And now its all come true.

Off the record, on the QT and very hush-hush

Really? Because it was written by a Christian who was warning us that state power (in the forms/manifestation of psychiatry and drugs) was taking over the individual conscience. I would think that would be music to conservative ears!

Stanley Kubrick was a genius! One of the greatest movies ever. And you think its vile? Really?
I think I understand. It's a very violent movie with some very intense scenes that I found hard to watch. But IMO, it's worth it for the story and the message that it gives us.
I feel the same way about To Kill a MockingBird, M*A*S*H and One Flew Over the Cuckoo's nest.

Some people get cool hallucinations that tell them to kill people. Mine just try to get me into trouble.

Alright, @Daisy... I will give it another shot with the philosophy in mind. Maybe I'll check out the book first. I only saw part of it, with no prior knowledge that it was genius or philosophical. I am still recovering from my lack of a real liberal arts education and catching up on this sort of stuff.

I find violence, especially sexual violence, very hard to watch/read, regardless of why it is there.

And the Harry Potter movies were so bad compared to the books that I stopped watching them after the first three.

I've not read the books yet but I did get more drawn into the story as the movies progressed. I felt 'meh' about the first three but they started picking up after that. Still haven't seen the last one but that's because I won't buy it until I find a copy with cover art that matches the first 7 I bought. It might take me a while. Sad
