Life Without Sex: The Third Phase of the Asexuality Movement
Thought this was pretty fascinating:

The best line ever on Asexuality, starts at 5:28 in the clip
"There is no worse heresy than the fact that the office sanctifies the holder of it.” -from Lord Acton's Axiom “Yippee ki-yay, Mother Fundamentalist” |

RE: Life Without Sex: The Third Phase of the Asexuality Movement
"Instead, I think what we have is a dialogue that fetishizes and celebrates sexuality, and equates it with the sum of our value and relationships."
Man, I wholeheartedly agree with Jay on this quote. I applaud him for being an advocate of what he feels is completely natural for him. It is so difficult to regard sex as anything less than everything in our world today. Glad to know there are some people out there who don't think it's such a big deal. Ignore the haters. They are not your audience. |

RE: Life Without Sex: The Third Phase of the Asexuality Movement
Quote:And imagining how it could be different is something that has the potential to benefit us all. If we stop defining our significant relationships only as those that are romantic or sexual, being single will take on a whole new meaning. If we broaden our emotional focus from the person we share bodily fluids with to the sum of our friendships, acquaintances, and colleagues, our communities will grow stronger. If we stop treating penetrative sex as the be all and end all of physical intimacy, we will experience greater heights of pleasure. And if we can accept that although sex can be ecstatic and affirming and fulfilling, it is not all those things to all people all of the time, we will relieve it of some of its cultural baggage. Umm...duh? "ABRAHAM DIED FOR YOUR LOX AND MATZO BALLS!" |

Yah, it seems so simple, doesn't it? I wonder if the article was written to sex addicts or something. Or, maybe better put-- if he sees the other 99% as being entirely composed of sex addicts.
