Annoying Sports Announcers

RE: Annoying Sports Announcers
paul--I liked Joe Morgan, as well. Precisely for what you said, he knows baseball. And Jon Miller didn't bother me, either.

Aside from Chris Berman, who should be exiled to a deserted island where there are no sports or microphones, and the aforementioned skating "she really wanted that jump" announcers....

I also despise the cheap scrub college football commentators who are inevitably homers for whichever team is considered the underdog when the game starts and for whichever team is ahead while the game is being played. Nebraska and Oklahoma State scored back and forth for an entire game season before last and we were pretty sure the morons were going to give themselves whiplash from the rapid switching of their "best team in the country" babble. And it was even more ridiculous since neither team was close to being the best team in the country.

I so wish someone would invent a device which would allow viewers to hear the crowd noise, refs when their mics are on, music for skating, etc...but mute the commentators. I would call it the "Lipinski Muter" in honor of Tara Lipinski whose skating commentary normally consists of information that begins with the phrase "when I was competing" and ends with such vital information as her dress color preferences. But other names could be considered. Ideas?

Amyrose, when NBC has football games, hubby complains that the crowd noise is too loud and you can't hear the announcers. I do like your idea--one feature needs to be the ability to give feedback to the announcers as to how many people tune them out.

This happened some 30 years ago. In the NFL no less. Here is a story about it.

I dare not fix with mete and bound The love and power of God. - J.G. Whittier
