Corned Beef and Cabbage
So, for St. Patrick's Day, how many of you will have Corned Beef and Cabbage to celebrate?
Or a Guinness or Killian's? Soda Bread? Bushmills? My family on both parents' sides is of Irish descent, so we always had Corned Beef and Cabbage on St. Pats. I ate lots of boiled potatoes that day. Corned beef and cabbage about once every 5 years is all I can stand. Experience is the name everyone gives to their mistakes. Oscar Wilde |

RE: Corned Beef and Cabbage
I am not a big fan of cabbage. So with my corned beef, I have Guiness.

RE: Corned Beef and Cabbage
I was told that corned beef and cabbage isn't really a tradional Irish Dish. Its an Irish-American dish. Apparently when the immigrants first got here they couldn't afford to eat much else!
But I like it regardless of its origins. O Beauty ever ancient, O Beauty ever new; you, the mirror of my life renewed, let me find my life in you.~St. Augustine |

Probably not; the Bear is of german extraction and closest he'll get to CB&C is the occasional rubin sandwich. And since I'm not a big fan of saurkraut, we'll probably eat something else tomorrow. I'm thinking chicken.

They have pizza in Ireland, don't they?
(Actually, I know they do, it just has really weird stuff on it, like prawns.) She Who Must Be Obeyed |

RE: Corned Beef and Cabbage
My married name is Irish. (Apparently the O' was dropped a few generations ago.) I'll make corned beef, cabbage, potatoes and carrots, but I'm not a big fan of the cabbage. I also don't do beer, but I'm sure Mr. NDTK will have a Guinness.

RE: Corned Beef and Cabbage
I had a Smithwick's Ale (Guinness product), but no corned beef.

RE: Corned Beef and Cabbage
Had shepherds pie with lamb as the meat. We also found 4 four leaf clovers in my mom's backyard!
