I wasn't particularly interested in Barbie, but I remember the commercial. I also remember when Pacman and similar video games had their own cartoon TV shows, their own cereals, toys, and any other merchandise you can think of. I also remember thinking the prizes in Crackerjack boxes were pretty cool, but maybe that was more because I never got any.

My first bike looked something like this.

Sorry that you were deprived of Cracker Jacks! Publix actually has them on their Easter aisle right now. Beware! Some of the toy prizes are TATTOOS!

I remember:

My Big Wheel

Recording shows on VHS

Tape decks and ruining tapes by rewinding for Fforwarding them all the time

Jelly shoes that hurt like crazy but you wore them anyway cause you were cool

Scrunchies

Butterfly hair clips

The tiny Polly Pockets

When gas cost a DOLLAR. Dammit.

JordanMaria,
I STILL use my VHS! Hahahaha!!
i have all these cool "tapes" from the good old days. I got stuff for coaching. Tonight I have to watch "Pole Vault Practice" and it's only on VHS. Good thing I still have it!!

I remember having to fold and stuff business cards in the front of the VHS to remove that static "bar" that would show across the screen on some tapes. We also had a blue cleaner tape that was supposed to fix it after being ran through a cycle. Ah the good ole days of VHS! Smile

Hmmm...I never learned the business card trick. How did that work exactly?

You fold it really thick and wedge it between the tape and the housing which pushes it slightly up and back therefore removing that annoying "stripe" that used to show up on older videos. Sometimes we'd even get tapes that did that from the video store where we rented them from. So we always had that "wedge" ready when needed. Rolleyes

I also remember the stupid "color pattern" on the tv in between shows or movies that used to play in place of commercials. Sometimes there was simply a countdown timer with the name of the next show that would be playing. It used to seem like an ETERNITY in between shows! Big Grin
