You guys have some good things going for ya though...good chow halls, shortened deployments, babes......Big Grin
Have to agree there. They changed most of the deployments to six months, which I agree with because it's still reasonable. Haven't been to a chow hall in months, because I'm married, live off base and get BAH/BAS. Never had a problem with the food when I did go, and didn't understand people who complained about it. I'm in maintenance, so I don't get to see too many babes. The medical squadrons have most of them. Tongue

When I was based at Barksdale AFB in 2003, the chow halls were like an actual restaurant with desserts, tv, even an ice cream freezer. If you ever visit an Army mess hall you'll see a DRASTIC difference. Wink In many cases it's also the same with everything else in the Army when compared to the Air Force. I guess you guys get all the money. Big Grin

That's what the chow hall is like here at my hospital. I can't speak to the other ones on post.

What's the food like? Many of the different Army bases I've been to have ok food but not really great. Barksdale and esp Ramstein AFB had restaurant quality food that was always really good and had LOTS of other food options.

Yeah, that sums it up.

If I eat there (not often) I usually either get a cheeseburger or build a salad from the salad bar.

I will say that Fort Jackson is about an hour away. My husband and I go there sometimes. Because it's home to so many more people than Shaw AFB, it does have some neat stuff, like an indoor pool.

The Third Army recently moved to Shaw AFB. I think quite a few bases are becoming joint bases, or at least having a significant amount of people from other branches stationed there.

Not that the armed forces have a unified opinion but most of the soldiers I've talked to who have been over there (and I work with them every day) say that they believe that what we're doing in Afghanistan is both right and necessary.
I'm sure both sides in WW1 said that too.

Maybe, just maybe, soldiers generally have the least clue about what it is all about. It is certainly important to morale that the soldiers are kept believing that right is on their side.

That might be true if you're referring to cooks, maintenance (sorry Emily Big Grin ) and general combat service support troops who don't get any first hand experience or intel from the Front, but not so for those of us who work in the latter fields of service. Wink

So soldiers are just naturally stupider than the rest of us?

It's funny how they expect everyone to be okay with their comments, we don't follow the constitution and we follow the UN now. Dumb asses, irionic that majority of troops are waking up and have joined the Oath Keepers. I'd be half tempted to rock it in my ROTC class but I am not trusted as it is.
