Steve Brown: Three Free Sins
Has anyone read anything by Steve Brown, author of Three Free Sins? My friend who is helping me "come out" of fundamentalism, is a huge advocate of his. Most of what he says is contrary to what I have been taught, so of course that has been uncomfortable for me, but I have tried to be more open-mined to other view points. David Hayward, "the Naked Pastor" is also good if you're looking for something to challenge "the way we've always done it".

RE: Steve Brown: Three Free Sins
I've read Scandalous Freedom by him and I've listened to a lot of his podcasts at KeyLife.org. Very good, and I think he has a spot on view of grace. Naked Pastor is good too.

RE: Steve Brown: Three Free Sins
Never read his books, but have heard him preach a number of times and he sang in the choir of our old church, if you've heard him on the radio you know he has a distinctive voice. I've liked most of what I've heard from him. He and his wife both seem very sincere.

RE: Steve Brown: Three Free Sins
I've had a few conversations with SB over the years. I visited Key Biscayne Pres. a number of times when he was the pastor there. He attended our church years later. He gets it.
He is a very Reformed theologian. (He is a professor at Reformed Theological Seminary). He has a wonderful way of distilling topics that other white-haired gurus debate for years into a few simple statements. His biggest encouragement to me is his understanding that even as well-regarded a theologian as he is, he is still a deeply flawed person, and that it's ok...Jesus loves him and meets him where he is, in the middle of his struggles. That has never stopped resonating with me. Now... You think about that.
