Welcome! There are tons of us in here in various stages of "detoxing." Some are still in Fundy churches or colleges, some of us are in the process of leaving, some of us have left a looong time ago. There are gay, straigt, pagan, catholic and presbyterian, but we've all been in a similar situation and there's nothing but acceptance for you here! I lot of my "hard" questions were answered in the Theology forums. There are places where you can vent or laugh or ask embarrassing questions. A good starting point is to google "healthy boundaries" and if you can, get a therapist because you're on your way! Hi and welcome. I apologize in advance if you get offended by me. It's not my intent but blunt force verbiage does occur. It can take awhile to "get" personalities. But it sounds like you lurked for a bit. Wink

It's great that you have been able to find understanding people. Generally many of us wondered whether anyone else could understand or in my case, if I wasn't imagining the problems I had?

Most of all I pray, seriously, that you will know assurance in the Gospel of Jesus Christ and God's everlasting, perfect love for you. So that when you make it through these trying, difficult times, and the rest of your life; your faith in Him will be strengthened. Any one of us could give you bad advice and imperfect compassion because we're fallen. People fail, He doesn't.

Just wanted to officially welcome you. Where in Ohio were/are you? I lived near Dayton for 9 years and was married in and attended an IFB church until the year before we moved.

I moved to Dayton in '97 to teach in our church's school, and currently attend one of the biggest IFB churches in town. I'll probably be leaving soon (both Dayton and the church) depending on how things go with my marriage. Where are you now?

I'm in Memphis, TN now. We moved here 5 years ago due to the economic changes in the area and to be closer to my husband's family.

Welcome, RedHot. You have shown much courage by sharing your story on the other thread. I was in a fundy-lite church for a little while, so I don't understand the extremes, but I get when someone is hurting. I hope you can find healing here.
