I like some of the songs done by Evanescence, although I don't know much about the group or their music.

But while searching their lyrics, I found these from the song "Lies":

Quote:Bound at every limb by my shackles of fear
Sealed with lies through so many tears
Lost from within and pursuing the end
I fight for the chance to be lied to again

You will never be strong enough
You will never be good enough
You were never conceived in love
You will not rise above

They'll never see, I'll never be
I'll struggle on and
On to feed this hunger
Burning deep inside of me

But through my tears breaks a blinding light
Birthing a dawn to this endless night
Arms outstretched, awaiting me
An open embrace upon a bleeding tree

Rest in me and I'll comfort you
I have lived and I died for you
Abide in me and I vow to you
I will never forsake you

They'll never see, I'll never be
I'll struggle on and
On to feed this hunger
Burning deep inside of me

They'll never see, I'll never be
I'll struggle on and
On to feed this hunger
Burning deep inside of me

Ohh, ooh, ahh, ooh, ahh, ohh
Ohh, ooh, ahh, ooh, ahh, ohh
Ohh, ooh, ahh, ooh, ahh, ohh
Ohh, ooh, ahh, ooh, ahh, ohh

Rest in me and I'll comfort you
I have lived yet died for you
Abide in me and I vow to you
I will never forsake you

They'll never see, I'll never be
I'll struggle on and
On to feed this hunger
Burning deep inside of me

I'm not very good at figuring out song lyrics. Were the lies the part that said, "You are no good" and the truth to counter the lies were the words of Christ? Or is the song saying that it's all lies? It's a pretty clear allusion to Jesus though, but I can't tell whether His words are any comfort to her or she just rejects Him too.

The song was later done as a remix with all of the Christian references removed. (I listened to the first song, btw, and didn't like it.)

Anyway, I thought the lyrics were interesting and I was very surprised to see such a clear reference to Christ.

"Do not look so sad. We shall meet soon again.” “Please, Aslan,” said Lucy, “what do you call soon?” “I call all times soon,” said Aslan.

She is fairly gothy. I worked her concert recently and enjoyed the show. In a world of computer-generated talent, she is truly talented.

I really like a lot of her songs! Even if all the lyrics don't fit my life, I can relate to the passion she puts into the songs.

RE: Evanescence
What is weird is that they really shy away from the Christian label. They've (as far as I am aware) never said they aren't Christian, but they really don't like being labelled as such and are surprised at their Christian following.

Grace means that God does something for me; law means that I do something for God. God has certain holy demands which he places upon me: that is law. Now if law means that God requires something of me for their fulfillment, then deliverance means he no longer requires that from me, but himself provides it.

One day I'm going to marry Amy Lee...

Because (if they are) they'd lose their vampire/goth/emo crowd...

Well think about the crowd that follows Tebo around. I'm sure they want to keep the crazies away and want to be recognized for their talent. If people can worship with their songs or lyrics, I'm sure they're not against that if they are Christians.

Very good point.
