RE: Sloppy Joes
Eww...

Before I moved to the Great White Midwest, most of these foods were mythical to me. At Publix, Manwich was usually out of sight on the grocery shelf, if it was stocked at all. Hamburger helper had a box or two and it was mostly the tuna kind. Then I moved up here and found almost half an aisle dedicated to Hamburger Helper and about died.

RE: Sloppy Joes
Usually we just do ground beef with tomato paste and sloppy joe seasoning (preferably McCormick's). I like mine plain, the roomie prefers his with mustard. Everytime we make them, I can't help but sing that line from the Adam Sandler lunchlady song...

RE: Sloppy Joes
My wife made sloppy joes just last night. She fried up some diced onions and peppers, added tomato paste, ketchup, worcestershire sauce, liquid smoke, and various seasonings, then mixed in the browned ground beef. It was then served over some good rolls.

They were delicious.

RE: Sloppy Joes
Because of this thread, I made sloppy joes on Wednesday night. I used tomato sauce, some spices (garlic, chili powder, cajun seasoning and a little brown sugar when it got too much bite), a little brown mustard and worcestershire sauce with green peppers and onions. Totally made it up as I threw stuff in the pan. They were good; we'll finish them tomorrow (went out last night, today is a lenten Friday). Now I have to remember how I made them as husband really liked it!
