Fire up a blunt with Pat Robertson
http://reason.com/blog/2012/03/06/pat-ro...-locking-u

Pat Robertson: "It's time we stop locking up people for possession of marijuana. We just can't do it anymore."

Shocked...

I don't support legalizing marijuana but I'd be ok with a fine instead of jail time for possession.

Do people even go to jail for simple possession? I mean less than two ounces... I don't think it's anything but a fine. In Oregon it's not even a misdemeanor, just a "violation" with a small fine.

I think the financial crisis will do more for the legalization of marijuana and walking back the War on Drugs than any amount of lobbying. More and more social conservatives have turned against it.

I know it's decriminalized in Massachusetts. Just a fine.

RE: Fire up a blunt with Pat Robertson
Is a turn around happening with regard to US attitudes to decriminalizing drugs, as happened recently with gays? The change in attitudes in that department has truly been revolutionary. Is it happening now with regard to drugs?

This economist says that in 100 years, people will look back at how half a million blacks are kept in jail in our time in the same way as we cannot comprehend the justification of slavery back in the 19th century.
