Song Parody : Fundie Tradition (apologies to Hank Williams Jr.)
Fundie Christian People
Are a contentious family And lately some of my kin-folk Have disowned a few others and me. I guess it’s because I kinda changed my direction Lord, I guess I went and broke their Fundie Tradition They get on me: wanna know, Hank Why do you drink Why do ya watch TV Why won’t you use the 1611 KJV Over and over They preach on their conviction. So if I separate From this stuff that’s not great It’s just a Fundie Tradtion Fundies all around here Won’t speak my church’s name Mostly ‘cause our kinda music And theirs ain’t exactly the same. Stop and think it over They're in a unique position Hymns they’ve sung for so long Were based on tavern songs It’s a Fundie Tradition. So they ask me Hank Why do you smoke? Why does your wife wear slacks? Why are there kids in your youth group Dating blacks? Over and over they’ll preach on their unique conviction. But not about being fat Ain’t nothing wrong with that It’s a Fundie Tradition. Now I have been a Baptist I’ve been an IFB They claim to have been around Since about 30 A.D. If’n you ain’t been immersed That’s mighty suspicious You can’t join their Fundie club And sit with the pernicious. And they’ll ask ya, brother Why do you spare the rod? Why don’t ya whoop yo kids. Bein’ hit with a belt never hurt me none Helped me turn out like I did. Just because it’s called abuse Don’t let that stop your conviction Smack ‘em with wood Hide the bruises real good It’s a Fundie Tradition. |
