RE: No Gospel for you!
I'm totally confused now!
Are you talking about me or the blog that was quoted in the OP?I've thankfully not listened to Anderson nor his wife; I was just responding to the quote that beensetfree posted and my opinion of it. "Do not look so sad. We shall meet soon again.” “Please, Aslan,” said Lucy, “what do you call soon?” “I call all times soon,” said Aslan. |

RE: No Gospel for you!
I hate the word "conviction". Most IFB's, and even Christians, think the be all and end all of going to church is to "get convicted" which will make you feel guilty enough to do some work in the next week, and then come back and get "convicted" again.
Grace means that God does something for me; law means that I do something for God. God has certain holy demands which he places upon me: that is law. Now if law means that God requires something of me for their fulfillment, then deliverance means he no longer requires that from me, but himself provides it. |

RE: No Gospel for you!
I don't like it either. I think because in the churches we were in, the conviction of the Holy Spirit was actually nothing more than manipulation from the preacher. God's goodness and graciousness, His mercy and love, ought to motivate me, not my guilt. I WAS guilty so I came to the cross where my sins have been washed away. Guilt and shame have been replaced with joy and freedom.
Fundies seem to downplay the work of the Spirit altogether so they try to BECOME the Holy Spirit in someone else's life. "Do not look so sad. We shall meet soon again.” “Please, Aslan,” said Lucy, “what do you call soon?” “I call all times soon,” said Aslan. |
