I've exclusively nursed all three of my kids and started ovulating about 12 weeks after delivery with all 3. My kids have co-slept, no bottles, etc., yet if I didn't use birth control methods I would have kids every 10 months. It might be true for some, but generally speaking its a myth. Everyone I have seen practice that as their "birth control" could be described by one word "pregnant" Unless of course your family bed situation ends up resulting in abstinence, cause that method works every time. While breastfeeding on demand, my ovulation was always delayed by almost a year. And my kids had dummies and didn't always share our bed.
My last two kids are close together in age because my second youngest was born with cleft palate and couldn't be breastfed. I hadn't expected the effect it would have on my ovulation, which came back much quicker. Our love is the digital transfer of information ![]()

If they would do this, they would have children spaced every two years instead of every ten months. I used to record this show for my fundy sisterrs back when I had cable. She's been shown nursing several times though I don't recall the age of the child. Like others have said, nursing doesn't necessarily preclude ovulation so YMMV. boymom: What in the thelogical region of eternal punishment is a daddy-daughter ball? amyrose5:No one is in charge around here. The whole lack of ovulation thing really is a crapshoot. Most people I knew who breastfed started their cycles up again within a few months of giving birth. The other downside to counting on nursing to stop ovulation is that you can get pregnant before you're aware you're ovulating again. This happened to a friend of mine, who now has babies about a year apart.

Yeah, because you ovulate two weeks before your period, not two weeks after.

There was a family that came to our church; they have several children. She tried to keep her husband away by nursing her children until she was completely dried up and the baby was starving.
I think sleeping with a baseball bat would have been a better option. |

Has anyone heard of this interesting invention for this problem? It's called a condom.
When I was in college, I tried some kool-aid, but I didn't like it, and I didn't swallow. |

Some of their backstory is that they previously used birth control (the pill I think) which they believe was causal to a miscarriage she had (I think after their first child). This ended up leading them into practicing no contraception and 'trusting God' for how many kids they would have. boymom: What in the thelogical region of eternal punishment is a daddy-daughter ball? amyrose5:No one is in charge around here.
