I find it sad, but not really disturbing, but that's my opinion and you are entitled to yours.

I have a lot of respect for the nonprofit that did those photos. They do beautiful work for families that are hurting in ways I can't imagine.

The grieving process for a baby is more complicated than for a child or even a grown person. I have an e-friend who lost her son after only 18 or so hours of life. A lot of times, the only thing grieving parents have are the photographs. There is nothing else to point to their existence other than a grave or that one photograph.

I wonder what is going to happen when interest in the show fizzles out and, after a few attempts to get back the viewership, the parents realize that they missed many of their children's childhood (childhood's???...that just sounds awkward. )

I don't think they will realize they missed anything. The goal seems to be having more children rather than enjoying the time with the ones you have.

It is really not easy to watch. She tells us how much easier it is now that she has older kids to "help". It was hard before the big ones were old enough to run the household, in other words.

And her voice annoys the crap out of me. I remember mothers at Christian school that talked with that voice...it is very affected.

ETA: Now JimBob is claiming that they make the majority of their money from real estate because "God expands your income as he expands your family". Yeah. Right. What a ridiculous idea to tell people. It is well documented that many QF families have huge financial struggles without the supplemental income of a television show. Ugh.

Yep. Basically, Anderson's question very clearly implied that the television show is the reason they are making it easily now and asked how they managed before. JimBob replied that they were just fine before and claimed that the "majority" of their income is from real estate deals and the television income doesn't factor into things at all. And threw in the "God provides" lecture for good measure.

Because, you know, if we all had 19 kids, money for basic necessities would fall down from the sky to support them. That's how it works.
