I'm happy b/c I hear all the horror stories of failures. His endo said it's actually not a bad thing since he won't have scarring to worry about when he's older and wants a pump. (He's 8.) Many kids end up with so much scar tissue that they have to discontinue using a pump when they are older. So for now, he gets at least 4 shots a day. Mommy2Kids |

RE: Things that HACK ME OFF!
What really hacks me off are the bumper stickers that say "Proud parent of an honor student at ___High School." Who gives a rip?

People who have swallowed the adoption industry kool-aid without a second thought and before anyone jumps on me, no I do not mean orphans or abused and neglected children.

That children are blank slates that can be filled in by adoptive parents. That all it takes is love to raise children from abusive backgrounds. That all one needs to do is delay, delay, delay and then 9/10ths possession is the law because it's the "only home they have ever known." That all children in orphanages are truly orphans. That adoptive parents who are married and living in America are obviously better than single parents and way better than parents in foreign countries. That parents who hand over their children in cases where there was no neglect are selfless heroes who gave this awesome gift...until you speak out about how you were coerced or how you regretted it for life. Then you are suddenly bitter and silenced. That adoption is the perfect solution to abortion and that by convincing women to hand over their children that they are riding a unicorn farting rainbows and shitting Skittles. That there is no way an unmarried parent can parent a child and that adoption will give that child a college education, a loving home, a pony, a $1 million dollar prom...etc. That unmarried fathers shouldn't have any say at all in the lives of their children so who cares if they are adopted out without the sperm donors permission? That adoption always gives a child a better life. That adopted children are never any different from biological children. That open adoption is the PEFRECT solution to the evils of the past, but wait! It's completely unenforceable in every state except one and the only reason it came about was because the adoption industry was concerned about their supply drying up. http://www.musingsofthelame.com/2012/01/...-good.html http://www.adoption-truth.com/2012/03/co...hoice.html http://mommymattersblog.com/2011/08/im-n...l-aid.html http://www.firstmotherforum.com/2010/12/...icefs.html http://antiadoption.files.wordpress.com/...-child.pdf http://www.firstmotherforum.com/2009/01/...-case.html http://law.gsu.edu/ccunningham/PR/JessicaUpdates.htm http://works.bepress.com/david_smolin/2/ <--- the writer adopted what he thought were two orphaned sisters from India only to find out once they spoke some English that they were kidnapped. http://www.babyemmawyatt.com/ http://www.sltrib.com/sltrib/home2/52592...y.html.csp http://adoptioncritic.com/2008/08/21/ope...ould-work/ http://www.thenation.com/article/shotgun-adoption "ABRAHAM DIED FOR YOUR LOX AND MATZO BALLS!" |

RE: Things that HACK ME OFF!
I respect your right to an opinion, but know that this isn't the case for every adoption. Three of my nephews were adopted from Russia in 2000. They have each had their fair share of side effects from their early life including (but not limited to) reactive attachment disorder and fetal alcohol syndrome. One thing I know for sure...they are loved completely and unconditionally, even fiercely by my sister and brother in law who have done everything in their power to help their sons know the love of family and have the hope of a good future.
The way it always was, is no longer good enough. You make me want to be brave. - Nichole Nordeman |

RE: Things that HACK ME OFF!
I found out today for sure (I had suspected) that the other little league coach in our tiny town had cherry-picked the players he wanted for his team. My son's team is crap. I want to go to the guy in charge of the area leagues and tell him he SUCKS for letting this jerk get away with that.

I know there are great things about adoption and I'm glad there's families out there that do adopt the unwanted of the world, but there's also bad things about it like what's going on in LB's case. There's a side in the industry that most don't ever see (kinda like with the IFB?), and she is trying to bring it out to the open not only for our education but also for the validation. This isn't just an "opinion" for her. She's living a nightmare right now and could use all the suport we can give her. ![]() (05-31-2012 01:25 AM)myotch Wrote: How did your parents take it when you told them you were female? |
