Southern Baptists wanna change their name.
I found this article today and found it pretty interesting:
http://start.toshiba.com/news/read.php?r...%3E&ps=101 For anyone attending an SBC church, how do you feel about the possibility of being ______ Baptist Church in a couple years? I guess it would be nice to have a name change since 44% of people have a negative reaction towards it. Our church recently went from being called a Baptist church to Bible church to rid ourselves of that stigma that plagues many SBC churches. For those who don't go to an SBC church, would the name change honestly change your perspective of the nation's largest Protestant denomination? I personally think it may do a little good for a short time, but if the SBC wants to experience any increase in positive reactions, it will need to change more than just its name. What do you think needs to change? And as a side note, I found this quote that just about made me cringe: "If we don't aggressively plant churches and lead people to Christ, we become increasingly irrelevant to the world around us," Jimmy Draper, the task force chairman, said recently. Ignore the haters. They are not your audience. |

RE: Southern Baptists wanna change their name.
It's just an unofficial committee. The majority of Southern Baptists remain opposed to a name change.
