Ed Young Jr. is creepy.
You may or may not heard of Ed Young, but there are a lot of evangelical pastors who follow his every move with great attentiveness. He is the epitome of the pastor-as-larger than life personality, pastor as CEO, mentality. When he and his wife released their marriage book recently, they did a 'bed-in' on top of the church building. He's been criticised over use of resources for stuff like a private jet... you get the idea.

And now, there's this. I thought it was a joke at first... but I'm pretty sure he doesn't know it's a joke.

I always hate to see people refuse to age gracefully.

Driscoll has nothing on this guy.

I actually half seriously wondered just what he and his wife were going to do in that bed on the roof. Smile He's definitely part of the evangelical circus.

My cat threw up just as I was reading this. I think that means something.

Great. I dress like him (slim fit, thin ties etc). What does that mean?

edit: Joseph Prince is still the most fashionable. He dresses in some cool semi-casual clothes that make me envious.

I happen to like Joseph Princes preaching on grace an awful lot. Not so much his prosperity stuff, but I have rarely heard him talk about it, and when he does, it is usually mixed up with other things like health, wellbeing, spiritual wealth, relational prosperity and not focused entirely on finances like most televangelists (I've also never heard him ask for money - it is just a shame that he endorses Kenneth Hagin and Copeland Sad ). And if we are honest, our finances and material blessings do also come from God. Nothing we have is our own.

RE: Ed Young Jr. is creepy.
My problem with Prince is that he takes the message of grace (which is fantastic) and says that because our sins are forgiven, we never have to confess or say we're sorry for anything. I know folks who follow him and they live their lives without thought of whether or not they are hurting others, because it's all covered by grace. There's no desire for reconciliation.

RE: Ed Young Jr. is creepy.
I've heard critics accuse him of teaching that, but he doesn't teach that in his books. He does teach, and I believe it to be truth, that we are totally forgiven, not piece meal installment plan forgiven, and that confession to God is not for forgiveness or fellowship, but for our own benefit to acknowledge our wrongdoing and allow the Holy Spirit to convict us of our righteousness. He teaches, as do many others, that the invitation in 1 John was to gnostics & unbelievers who denied the physical reality of Jesus and the physical reality of sin, and that if they would confess their sin, they would be forgiven and cleansed of ALL unrighteousness. (on a side note, if a Christian can be in and out of fellowship, and being out of fellowship means you are in darkness according to 1 John, how can a Christian out of fellowship still be in Christ, since in Him there is no darkness at all - The in and out of fellowship teaching of the baptist church and many evangelical churches is very destructive).

edit: (found a quote)

“We don’t have to confess our sins in order to be forgiven. We confess our sins because we are already forgiven. When I say ‘confess our sins’, I’m talking about being open with God… Confession in the new covenant is just being honest about your failures and your humanity. It is the result of being forgiven and not something you do in order to be forgiven.”

So I don't have a problem with the teaching. And he even addresses the issue you mention in his book Destined to Reign and the sequel, Unmerited Favour. If people are going to abuse grace, then they haven't understood it. Grace frees us from the law, but not only that, it frees us from the law to righteousness - not following a written list of righteous acts, but actual righteousness by faith, believing we are righteous. It's not a practical concept, but a spiritual one. Right believing leads to right living Smile

The solution to that problem is not law - it's actually more grace. When people are so overcome by the grace that God bestows upon us, it will change them. Some people will abuse it, but that gives us no right to add law into the message to try and produce a balance. People will always abuse it.
