11 Reasons Why People Saved Through Soul Winning Will Not Come to Church
(Pastor Anderson's soul winning) My favorite reason is #7. They live in the ghetto and they are too lazy.

RE: 11 Reasons Why People Saved Through Soul Winning Will Not Come to Church
Quote:Many of the people who get saved through our soul-winning efforts already go to church somewhere. Many of them are already even attending a Baptist church. Once they get saved, they may continue to attend a liberal Baptist church or a new-evangelical church because of the fact that they have ties with friends and family there. Wait...what?!? Are they only saved if they go to his church??? Quote:Often I have won someone to the Lord who has family or friends who are already saved. Although these watered-down Christian family members or friends never took the time to get their loved one saved, they will jump all over them to get them plugged into their church, now that they are saved. People are much more likely to go to a church where they already know people than to a church where they don't know anyone. Also, a new believer may not know all the specific things they should be looking for in a church, and therefore, they may easily end up going to an inferior church because they already know people there. Maybe their friends and family realized that constantly badgering them wasn't the key to salvation. It's not good enough to bring someone to god. It's only good if they come to your church? Quote:Because as a church we knock every door in each area we go soul-winning, much of our time is spent knocking doors in slums and ghettos. Many of the people who get saved have very little character and are very unreliable people. Many of them want to come to church and have every intention of coming to church but do not have the character to get themselves out of bed in the morning and drag themselves to church. Many of them can't even hold down a job, let alone come to church on Sunday. With that kind of attitude, why is he surprised that none of them want to come to his church? ...but the funniest part of all is in the pamphlets! Quote:We believe that salvation is by grace through faith. We believe in the eternal security of the believer (once saved, always saved). Apparently, if you aren't saved by Anderson, you weren't saved in the first place! "ABRAHAM DIED FOR YOUR LOX AND MATZO BALLS!" |

RE: 11 Reasons Why People Saved Through Soul Winning Will Not Come to Church
Quote:Spanish Speakers ----without getting a chance to hear a clear presentation of the Gospel A lot of the Spanish Speakers are Catholic. I have news for you. They do hear a clear presentation of the Gospel. I Cor 5:1-4 of the gospel I preached to you, which you indeed received and in which you also stand. Through it you are also being saved, if you hold fast to the word I preached to you, unless you believed in vain. For I handed on to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the scriptures; that he was buried; that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the scriptures That is the Gospel. If someone says they don't hear that at Mass then they are either lying or just not paying attention. O Beauty ever ancient, O Beauty ever new; you, the mirror of my life renewed, let me find my life in you.~St. Augustine |

RE: 11 Reasons Why People Saved Through Soul Winning Will Not Come to Church
Never once does he admit that those people may simply be repeating a prayer after him to get rid of him or because they feel bad at the moment but tomorrow morning will have no interest in following Jesus. I'm not sure why he's so positive that those people are all saved when in Jesus' parable of the sower and the seed, lots and lots of seed fell on soil that wasn't conducive to growth. Only SOME of the seed grew and produced fruit.
Methinks he'd be better, instead of trying to reach all 4 million people in his area, to spent more time developing relationships and follow-up with people in his immediate area who actually speak English. I find it interesting that he says people are scared to go into a new church where they don't know anyone. YES!!! THAT'S THE POINT!! These people should at LEAST know the person who led them to the Lord, and that person should say they'll meet them at the door to welcome them. Oh, except it's the pastor and he's too busy to do that, maybe? Another disadvantage of this save-'em-by-the-numbers approach instead of a relational one. "Do not look so sad. We shall meet soon again.” “Please, Aslan,” said Lucy, “what do you call soon?” “I call all times soon,” said Aslan. |

"Our church will never offer services in Spanish. "
20% of those allegedly "saved" by their door-to-door soul-winning are Spanish speakers and he claims to have a basic working knowledge of the language himself, yet he declares he will NEVER offer Spanish services. Way to (not) love your neighbor! |

That's the one I noticed, too. It honestly made me angry. The tone of that one sentence is bad enough, but in the context of his explanation...ugh.
Forget the fear/it's just a crutch/that tries to hold you back/and turn your dreams to dust. |

RE: 11 Reasons Why People Saved Through Soul Winning Will Not Come to Church
He forgot one...
Many people who are saved through soul winning show up once and hear the preacher. That is enough. Only those desensitized to the insanity by years of sleeping through sermons are able to withstand the mighty power of a professing pastor preaching powerfully, parading pedantry, and philosophizing on the pedagogical and the practical premises of his positions. Edit: forgot to use the term "punditry" anywhere - insert it at random "Hokey religions and ancient weapons are no match for a good blaster at your side" |

The women may have short hair 2. The women may not have ankle length dresses 3. They may be employed in jobs Pastor Steve hates:police, Border Patrol, school teachers, day-care workers, doctors,, etc 4. The women may be employed outside the home 5. They may prefer contemporary music 6. They may own an NIV, NKJV, Living Bible |
