In Defense Of Down Syndrome Children..
I found this article insightful. Particularly this quote:

Quote:Our fellow citizens have fought hard to encourage and protect diversity and acceptance in our society. We wear political correctness as a badge of honor; but the rising statistics of pregnancies terminated after a Down syndrome diagnosis reveal the hypocrisy of our celebration. We see equality as sameness and diversity in shades of color. We embrace differences when they fall within our market-driven, politically correct framework but rarely when they disrupt our status quo.

"For God has imprisoned everyone in disobedience so he could have mercy on everyone." ~ St. Paul

RE: In Defense Of Down Syndrome Children..
I have the honor of knowing several children with Down Syndrome. One of my bestest buddies has two children with Down Syndrome, who were born into their family. Another friend has adopted 2 babies with DS. No, they aren't "normal" children, but they are wonderful humans who teach me lessons I would never have learned.

(And, when my 7-year old is over at their house and walks into the room with no pants on, Mom just laughs because she truly "gets it" to have a child with special needs.)

Great article. The people with Downs that I've known have been very funny and keep people smiling!
