RE: Komen Ends Grants for Planned Parenthood
That's a pretty incredibly disassociated statement. It's a tiny % of their business, and incredibly unprofitable for an organization that relies on donations & subsidization.

RE: Komen Ends Grants for Planned Parenthood
Whatever your statistics, I think it's impossible for people on opposite sides of the abortion issue to fully appreciate exactly how drastically different we think about this.
What if I said that an organization called "Free Medicine For Kids and Puppies" spent 99% of its budget providing free healthcare for thousands and thousands of kids all over the country. And then what if I told you that 1% of its budget went to helping pedophiles produce materials on how to molest kids without getting caught. Would you be able to justify supporting such an organization just because the percentage of pedophiles assisted was so very tiny? Or would you say that there was NO WAY you could support such an organization no matter how much good they claimed to do? If abortion is the coldblooded killing of innocent human beings then it's a heinous enough act to give pause no matter what other "good deeds" an organization is doing. If abortion is the mere removal of some non-person cells with no more moral implication than cutting your fingernails then we should be all for supporting an organization that's doing that and whatever other helpful things are offered. It's a deep philosophical chasm that has no simple remedy. RE: Komen Ends Grants for Planned Parenthood
Planned Parenthood is an organization that rouses strong feelings in individuals, both for and against. When I was a sexually active teenager, I knew PP as a place to get birth control, but in my small town, there was no PP office. As I went to college and was "late" a few times, I learned that PP was where I would go if an abortion was needed (thank God it wasn't). I became a Christian at 21, and my views on many things didn't change overnight, but they did. It could have been the influence of Chrisitanity, maturing or both.
The whole SGK/PP thing shows the power of protest. We can reward or punish companies or organizations by where we spend our money. As I've mentioned before, I have two children with autism. Autism Speaks is the best known organization for autism advocacy and research. I don't agree 100% with their stances, so I don't support them financially. Other organizations such as The Variety Club in St. Louis, help children and adults with disabilities through camps and adaptive equipment (wheelchairs, speech boxes, carseats). I choose to financially support them when able. Experience is the name everyone gives to their mistakes. Oscar Wilde |

Income does not necessarily equal profit and it's definitely not a good measure of business when you take into consideration the fact that abortion is at least $300 while other services are less than $50. I have no way of knowing what their profit margin is and as I posted above it really doesn't make much difference in the scheme of things. Whether they make tons of money or do it for free the moral conflict remains the same. RE: Komen Ends Grants for Planned Parenthood
Planned Parenthood murders more than 300,000 boys and girls every year.
A more wicked organization I cannot think of! Nothing they can or every will do can overcome the evil they have foisted on women and the USA, and those precious little ones. The good news is that Christ died for all of you........not just some of you! |

It's not a person until it's born in my estimation. While I personally believe that anything after 12 weeks shouldn't be carried out, I know that life isn't perfect and shit happens during pregnancies. I know of a woman online who decided to give birth to a baby that would be certain to die at birth. The baby lived a grand total of 3 days. While she is glad of her decision, she recoils in horror if anyone would have forced her to carry to term. Gah...I broke my personal rule...but I'm really tired of abortion being made into yet another black and white issue. "ABRAHAM DIED FOR YOUR LOX AND MATZO BALLS!" |
