Birthers' day in court

RE: Birthers' day in court
It will never be put to bed, sadly. Just like all the claptrap that immediately started circulating when his birth certificate was produced, there will be claptrap about this. That's the thing with conspiracies: they're never put to bed because the people who believe them will always have some reason to distrust any and all evidence put before them.

I'm surprised, though, about the birth certificate that BO put out, and the commentary on it from several technicians, including an Adobe executive. Prior to that, I was concerned about Obama's silence on the subject, while his attack-dog media cadre ran the birthers through a protracted group-character assassination.

And his Connecticut SSN raises my eyebrows.

Maybe he actually has something to hide?

Either way, it would be nice to put this issue to bed.

I wasn't aware of any of the SSN accusations, but a quick google found me this:

Maybe I am an outsider and don't have an intrinsic feel for all this, but it all just seems rather petty to me. I wonder if Disraeli had such problems?

Snopes is like Wiki and other such sites- a mixed bag. Here's the thing- either the people saying these things are flipping insane or we've been hoodwinked. There's obviously no middle ground. Snopes says no, other places say yes. That's why I think Thursday's case, if anything happens, will be fun to see the outcome.

RE: Birthers' day in court
I didn't say that he is using a stolen identity. I'm saying his SSN prefix is one reserved for those born in Connecticut. Seeing that there are no records ever placing his mom's residency in CT, it's a curious thing.

If he was born in Hawaii, shouldn't he have an SSN prefix for HI?

There could be plenty of legal explanations, rational explanations, even existing SSN anomalies with which we could compare. But this discussion in the press is just kind of shut down.

I can accept the explanation given on Snopes. The question is why was his SSN processed in CT if he was born in HI? Wouldn't a west coast office be more convenient? Again, it could be a rational explanation, like the CT SS office was the least burdened, and they processed HI births.

When did Obama apply for his SS card? My dad and aunts and uncles didn't get theirs until they turned 16 and needed them for jobs. Getting your SSN at birth wasn't common until the 80's.

Scroll down to the bottom paragraph: http://www.snopes.com/politics/obama/birthers/ssn.asp

I would have copied and pasted the relevant part, but that's not working for me today. haha

My SSN says I'm from a state about 600 miles away from where I was born.

Then again I didn't get one until I was 13.

That is of course the other side to the argument. While MOST people get one from their area, you can apply in an SS office somewhere else. Why his mother who was apparently never in CT got a number from CT is a different question and may not be significant.

RE: Birthers' day in court
If you read the Snopes article you'll discover that SSNs have only been related to zip codes since 1973. So the SSN number has nothing to do with CT.

Both my fathers' SSN and my SSN start with the same prefix and we were both born in the same area and we were both born before 1973.
