RE: Fundy Fundraising Campaigns
@AFTU Whenever we did that at my church, the pastor had us close our eyes and bow our head. That didn't stop him telling his favorite people in the church who and how much the "major givers" pledged.

RE: Fundy Fundraising Campaigns
I remember raising funds for the "church" by serving food at a price. AKA, five poor abuelitas slaving away in the kitchen flipping tortillas and carne asada while high schoolers waited tables and snuck into the broom closet to make out between trips. I just sat in one of the classrooms and watched the NFL playoffs. I spilled beans on my white shirt, too. Dammit.

Ignore the haters. They are not your audience.

"And then there were the unbiblical public hand-raising offerings, which started at $5,000 increments, and worked there way down to $1... so no one had an excuse not to participate."
Wow!! What church was that?? $5,000 increments??? I think I'm called to have them be my sending church to Australia. I can clearly hear the voice.
ooh, I just saw the rest of the sentence, down to $1. Rats, stuck in Michigan.

A-ha! I just figured out this quoting thing. Cool. Anyhow, my husband even can't stand him either. Says he's "glib."

RE: Fundy Fundraising Campaigns
The "Peon #387" comment under my name refers to our number on the tithing envelopes. It is not our actual number, cause I can't seem to recall it. But it is not far off.
