RE: Real Marriage: Mark Driscoll
I don't know the context of the suit pic or the Mickey pic.
Speech 101 covers dressing for the occasion and the audience. I'm not defending Driscol, per se. He says a bunch of stuff I disagree with. But I "get" that he's trying to connect in a way that goes beyond appearance. "I don't have to wear a suit to share the Gospel." I'm realizing the problem is that he's the type of guy where you can't not notice his apparel. The Ark was built by a lone amateur, and the Titanic was built by an impressive group of professionals. |

Someone, make a paper doll out of him so we can dress him the way we want.

How related is this sermon content to the book? I think I found out why he wears a Micky shirt...it's the Disneyfication of Patriarchy and Fundyism! wiki Wrote:Disneyfication or Disneyization: the terms are generally used in a negative way, and they imply homogenization of consumption, merchandising, and emotional labor. They can be used more broadly to describe the processes of stripping a real place or event of its original character and repackaging it in a sanitized format. References to anything negative are removed, and the facts are watered down with the intent of making the subject more pleasant and easily grasped. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Disneyfication "ABRAHAM DIED FOR YOUR LOX AND MATZO BALLS!" |
