If anyone wants me to take one for the team I'll certainly read it if I can find it at the library or if someone is willing to lend me a copy.

RE: Real Marriage: Mark Driscoll
There all millions of married people in the world, some married more than sixty years. Why should anyone value his opinion over anyone else’s?
Driscoll, being a classic alpha-male narcissist, will eventually dump his wife for a younger, prettier woman. |

Through three chapters so far, and really enjoying it. Mark and his wife admit they aren't and never will have a perfect marriage. They approach the subject with much humility, and that comes through even more clearly as we have been watching the sermon series which coincides with the book.

RE: Real Marriage: Mark Driscoll
This is only tangentially related....but how do you take a grown-ass man wearing ripped up jeans seriously?
It reminds me of the time an NFL player and former local college star came to the Christian school I taught at for an assembly. He spoke to the high schoolers and then we had about ten minutes left of the day after. So we went back to last period classes. I only had five kids in that class and asked them what they thought about the player/assembly. The most interesting response was this from a senior boy: "I liked that an adult was talking to us about faith and was dressed like an adult and acting like an adult. I don't know why pastors think they have to pretend they are 18 for us to listen to them." |

"I liked that an adult was talking to us about faith and was dressed like an adult and acting like an adult. I don't know why pastors think they have to pretend they are 18 for us to listen to them." I think that I come from the opposite end of the spectrum. It was refreshing to go to church and see a pastor preach in a polo shirt and jeans. The fundy dress code was being violated, but *gasp* he was still being used by God. I despised the guilt trip that “You better wear the best when you come to church.” Why? God doesn’t care what type of fabric is on our back. This always pissed me off. Shoes have come a long way from their humble beginnings as simple leather moccasins.
