i'm married. it's awesome. |

RE: Why You Should Be a Baptist
I find it so interesting that so many here are against "homeskooling".
We homeschool here. The reason is to ensure they get a good education. I didn't get much of one in my public school because I was far too busy socializing. Fundies must homeschool differently from all the homeschooled people I know. They all seem so bright. I know of a 16 year old who can talk religion and politics with adults. I think its because of all that exposure to the adult world because at 16, I could barely talk about anything aside from who was dating who and who was more popular and the homecoming court and cheerleading and all that. (and I wasn't even popular) |

My sisters homeschool and I know some homeschooled kids who are very bright. It all depends on the teacher. I had to help one previously homescooled high school student find "A see ya" (Asia) on a map. I also know ones who tell their kids if they can finish their PACES in an hour they can take the next day off. The creepiest thing about homeschooling is having a crush on your third grade teacher. |

I think it is generally the best education alternative. I'm against homeskooling. There is a big difference. I'm against " You helped mommy bake cookies and we used measuring cups so you did your math assignment for today." I 'm not at all against homeschooling, I just like to kick the hornet's nest once and a while to see what flies out. I guess that is why I keep getting banned on the HAC Connection. |

gotcha!
Yes. I am against homeskooling too. I was once on a message board with a women who thought her daughter only needed to know how to read on an 8th grade level and count the change in her pocket. I definitely disagree with that. I thought she was a very rare exception to homeschooling though. |

RE: Why You Should Be a Baptist
My oldest two were home schooled for a year but it had nothing to do with religion. Our school system was terrible.
When we moved to a place with a much better school system they went back to public school. They both graduated with advanced studies diploma from one of the top 100 high schools in the country so that year off apparently didn't hurt them. O Beauty ever ancient, O Beauty ever new; you, the mirror of my life renewed, let me find my life in you.~St. Augustine |
