RE: What were your spiritual gifts?
Oh yeah... I guess I should have mentioned that it was super long Blush . I took the "Youth Test" and it was 80 questions. I didn't look to see what the difference between it and the "Adult Test" was, though judging from Qrayze's results, it gives the additional results "Knowledge" and "Wisdom".

When you click on a definition, it will not open a new tab/page. So I lost the specific results and I'm not doing all 100 questions again. But I remember I got 13 for both leadership and encouragement. I thought I was more of a leadership and serving type. Encouragement isn't really my thing.

Where is listening? Why isn't listening anywhere on there? Not on this poll but in general?

I was going by the fundamentalist categories for spiritual gifts that I was taught as a fundy.

Listening would probably form part of mercy, I think.

I think the worst thing that fundies did when my world crashed was try to 'fix' me. I think people just needed to shut up and listen. That would have been far more merciful than ramming forgive and forget down my throat.

Yep. Basically, people need and want to be heard.

RE: What were your spiritual gifts?
This subject really gets my goat. In fundydom (still in btw) I learned that all gifts and talents that were used were ONLY ones that would help build the church and it's Ministers and members. Any other gifts and talents that were outside of that were NOT encouraged?

Want to go to the nursing home? Not a good idea because you are not serving the body of Christ.

Want to start a jail ministry? See above answer. And add to the fact that you should be soulwinning to build the church as opposed to the kingdom of God

Want to give money to an online ministry? You should give to your local congregation because you know their lives, their fruit.

Want to send money to a relief mission such as Samaritan's Purse in times of devastation? Discouraged because you don't know exactly where that money is going and what it is being used for.

There are others but right now my mind is drawing a blank.

For years I wasn't a good enough soulwinner and felt I was lacking because I did not fit the 'prescribed' giftings that the church pushed on everyone. Talk about pressure. ***If you are doing the fundy version of spiritual gifts you are accepted in the beloved. If you don't do them, you are talked about behind your back and not "on fire" for the Lord. Talk about limiting God and who He has made each and every person to be.

As a pastor's wife, I also am/was pressured to be a hard nosed 'teacher' of modesty and standards that I was never able to do and I thank God for that. I've since realized that God doesnt need to pressure any of his children to do anything- and that one of my spiritual gifts is encouragement, plain and simple.

When I realized that there are OTHER ways to serve in talents and giftings the burden was gone.

We're meant to be involved in the healing and restoration of one another, not the disdain and judgment of one another.

Hmm, this is about like others I've taken, with a shift away from evangelism--probably because I don't do the "in your face" stuff any more YAY Smile. "Faith" is way too high, though. It's not a very well done test, not nearly differentiated enough in the responses.
