I Tried Wine

I Tried Wine
I just went into a small, local market and was asked if I wanted to try some wine. So I thought I might. When asked red or white, I said red, and when asked sweet or rustic (I think that's what she said), I said sweet.

Guess what? It tastes horrible!!! I did NOT like the taste. The funny thing is that after I drank it, I felt hot in my chest - not like heartburn, but just unexpectedly warm.

But here's the funny part: you know how fundies love to quote the verse "be sure your sin will find you out"? I told the lady I didn't want to buy any, and she said she had to take my name and birthdate. So I told her and she wrote them down on a clipboard!!! HaHa!!!! Now my name's there for all to see my terrible "transgression".

"Do not look so sad. We shall meet soon again.” “Please, Aslan,” said Lucy, “what do you call soon?” “I call all times soon,” said Aslan.

Yeah, that was my assessment too. Wine people tell me I was trying the wrong stuff but I'm not sure I really want to try again.

Its definitely somewhat of an acquired taste for most people, that said, I liked it the first time I drank some. Having a good bottle definitely makes a difference, which by the way, does not mean that it must be expensive.

RE: I Tried Wine
It just takes some getting used to. I hated it at first, but now I'm getting to where I like it. Start with a sweet white or blush, like a Moscato or Scuppernong...you'll have a better experience. I've moved up to where I can almost tolerate Chardonnay. Smile

RE: I Tried Wine
It does taste terrible. That's how you know it's good for ya! Smile

first timers should try a white wine, fruity.

Red wine is usually an acquired taste for a developed palette - which means being able to separate wine different wine flavors from a sip - wood, chocolate, cinnamon.

White wine, to me, is not as sophisticated - fruits, grapes, sometimes a flowery scent and flavor.

Also, smelling the wine before the sip is more important than throwing it in the mouth. It's to be savored -- hold the wine in the mouth, pressing it against the roof of the mouth while still smelling the aroma, and then letting it flow down the throat instead of mere swallowing......mmmmmmmmm.....I haven't had wine in a loooong time.

Right now, I want some top-shelf tequila shots, though.

Girl, you just got carded! That's an ego boost similar to "Have you lost weight?" when you haven't.

Try white, or better yet, go to a wine tasting where you can sample lots of kinds in one spot. You pay a set amount, get a glass, then sample away. They often happen to support a charity, so it's even better!

Non-grape wines are really good for first timers.

Oh, you want white. Red wine tastes like something died. Vouvray is a not-expensive, fruity sweet white. Of course, the best-tasting wine I've ever had was a blackberry dessert wine. Haven't been able to find it since!

Yup!! Smile Warm and happy (or at least the edge off of stress) sounds right. I don't like the taste, either, but there are some that are much better than others, and the feeling is nice.

RE: I Tried Wine
My first experience with wines...

I was told to try the kosher wines, like Mogen David and Manishewitz. Tastes just like grape juice, I was told.

um... NOT.

Haven't had wine since. I'd rather stick to sparkling grape juice, thanks.

Now that I like.

And a certain brand of kosher sparkling cranberry that I've only found in New York. Man that stuff was good.
