The more I read here, the more I am seeing that the church I go to isn't at all like the fundy stuff I read here. I am very thankful for that, but I think it is so strange that there are different types.

That is awesome! And it's not just regarding directly talking about Jesus, but how everything in Scripture points to Jesus.

Jesus can be found in David showing grace to Melchizadek Mephibosheth.
Jesus can be found in the story of Jonah.
Jesus can be found in the consequences of Moses hitting the rock.
Jesus can be found in Leviticus and Song of Solomon.

But, guess what? I had to learn this all on my own. Church sermons and Sunday School lessons never taught me this.

Now, every time I read in the Old Testament, from the small characters of Judges to the large stories like David and Goliath, everything is SO MUCH MORE POWERFUL now that I can just see Jesus in everything. It makes reading and studying the Bible so much more enjoyable.

Your enthusiasm makes me smile GTF! Smile I remember having the same awakening about how so much of the OT pointed to Jesus. My experience n Fundyland was that the OT was full of neat Bible heroes that made fun felt board stories.

Some have observed that Jesus talked about God while the church talked about Jesus.

All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us.

Jesus is God that we, as humans, have been able to see. We can't comprehend God fully, Jesus taught about God and showed us God. We should be talking about Jesus - not to exclude God the Father, but as the example that God chose to put on the Earth for us.

If that makes any sense. It kind of does in my head, but I'm not sure that it came out right.

My old fundy church, however, talked about 'how to deal with x issue in your life', rather than Jesus or God.

I do think we should talk about Jesus for sure. Only we should also remember that Jesus came to show us God, not himself. Jesus was a revelation of God, but not of himself. We worship God through Jesus.
