RE: Dating at Fundy U
Quote:What in the world was their justification that they felt they could have ANY say in who someone marries? Did they try to back it up with scripture? Would they have the gall to tell someone that they couldn't marry someone? Ugh. According to the hubby: Quote:When I was there it was mandatory that men go speak to the dean of men before proposing. I don't think there was a pre-engagement policy for girls because proposals are supposed to be surprises a lot of times. I never did it and nothing happened to me. I made the engagement publicly known. and when I asked if the dean refused his consent: Quote:Oh I don't know. I'm sure the dean could have said he didn't think someone was ready to be engaged but I don't know if there would have been consequences if he got engaged anyway. I don't know if no one ever tested it or what.... "Love All, Serve All and Create No Sorrow." |

RE: Dating at Fundy U
I went to HAC and it was considered a "date" if you talked to the member of the opposite sex for 10 minutes.
I'm pretty sure that rule had more to do with keeping ppl who were not allowed to date (divorced ppl couldn't date ppl who had never been married, and then there were those who were on dating suspension) away from eachother than actually defining a date. ![]() (05-31-2012 01:25 AM)myotch Wrote: How did your parents take it when you told them you were female? |
