Killing Lincoln
Just finished Killing Lincoln. It was a pretty good read, alot of interesting facts that I did not know. I think the style of writing could have been better, but overall, a pretty decent read. What do ya'll think?
One little tidbit. Did you know that Booth and Lincoln's son were both dating the same lady? So says the book. The good news is that Christ died for all of you........not just some of you! |

RE: Killing Lincoln
Ford's Theater refuses to carry the book because of gross inaccuracies, few citations, and a dependance on bad sources where they do cite.
Plus, O'Reilly's a windbag. Other than that, I'm sure it is a fine book. The Ark was built by a lone amateur, and the Titanic was built by an impressive group of professionals. |

RE: Killing Lincoln
I just recently read an interesting one called "My Thoughts Be Bloody" about the two Booth brothers, Edwin and John. Interesting things that I did not know about the dynamics of the Booth family.

RE: Killing Lincoln
Yeah...Billo the Clown is the last author on earth that I would ever consider buying a book from because he wouldn't know what a fact was if it...well...let's just say I'll refrain from using my favorite insult about him here for sake of decency.

It was initially reported in one of the large newspapers that Ford's theater wasn't carrying the book, but they had the manager's letter to that paper on the news last night denying the report, and telling everyone that the book is proudy displayed and for sale at the theatre. Cool. I hope the windbag sells a lot of books.

Billo the Clown is a moron and donating money to veterans does not change that. He is a pundit, not a historian and his idea of a fact is whatever slanted view that fits his agenda. Bias is everywhere, but Billo's bias is a display of pure arrogance and pride. ![]() Also, the news report you saw was disingenuous: http://www.washingtonpost.com/entertainm...story.html Quote:After the review conducted by Rae Emerson, the deputy superintendent of Ford’s Theatre National Historic Site, the National Park Service recommended that the book not be sold in the Ford’s Theatre basement museum bookstore. Two completely different stores! |

RE: Killing Lincoln
I don't even think the guy has an agenda. If it is, it is ill-defined. He's less an ideologue or partisan or even a pundit. He's a textbook demagogue.
