Poll: Would you go to the Holy Land?
I've gone; it was awesome! Everyone should go if they can!
I went; it was fine.
I'd love to go and would in a minute if I could!
I might go if the opportunity arose.
I'm not interested in going.

I know some people who have gone before--actually, I've got a friend who's going on a trip next year, her second trip. According to her, safety wasn't much of a concern, but I don't know if violence has increased since her last trip or not. So that made me feel somewhat better about the whole thing.

You know where I really want to go, though? Athens. I've always loved ancient Greece history, and one day I realized that the Mars' Hill mentioned in Acts was the Acropolis in Athens. So two reasons to want to go there!

Also visited Greece, courtesy of Uncle Sam, another great destination. I went up on Mars Hill and read the sermon that Paul preached there from a little new testament I carried with me, it was awesome!

The good news is that Christ died for all of you........not just some of you!

greg, that would be amazing!

I have had the privilege of standing in the catacombs in Rome where we prayed as well as in the Mamartine Prison where Paul was held. Very moving.

"Do not look so sad. We shall meet soon again.” “Please, Aslan,” said Lucy, “what do you call soon?” “I call all times soon,” said Aslan.

Hey, me too!! Those catacombs were kinda spooky. I still have pictures of the prison where brother Paul was held.

That particular tour that we were on included a papal visit, our U.S. contingent were given special seating in St Peter's Square, where the Pope was going to address the throngs. I elected, along with a christian friend, to go on a walking tour of Rome during that time, not concerned with seeing the Pope (sorry Catholic friends) and it was really great, didn't have any crowds to wade through as they were all down at St Peter's square seeing the Pope!

I would love to go, if it wasn't for the flight over. I'm no fan of flying. I never much cared for history until I lived in St. Augustine, and could actually walk the streets and see things for how they were. Then I was able to better understand all of my FL history lessons in school. Later on I lived in northern VA, and across the river from Valley Forge. It was so cool to me to be able to teach my kids the history of those places, then actually take them there so they could learn first hand. I would love to gain that same knowledge by visiting Jerusalem. Now if someone could please invent a teleportation device (I also don't do well on cruise ships), so that I could visit, I would be most pleased.

I said for years as a teacher that the most effective way to teach American history would be to put the kids on a bus and travel the country for a semester. Textbooks suck. Places make it real. Smile
