RE: Dress Code
I think the artist series at BJ soured me on dressing up. It was fun if you are a freshman or if you have a boyfriend but by third semester of my junior year it was SO OLD...and I had a boyfriend.
![]() I never liked dressing up for church even when I was a girl. Have no idea why but I just never liked being part of what seemed like a perpetual Easter parade. As soon as we went to a church that was a 'come as you are casual' I jumped right in! Had no problem wearing slacks/jeans to church. I still wear pants to church but its mostly dressy pants now. RE: Dress Code
Yeah, I did all of the dressing up for church I needed to at school. I am against going to church and not being able to wear something comfortable which is usually jeans and a polo.

It all matches, but with the downside that, just occasionally, you overdress for something. ![]() Quote:I think the artist series at BJ soured me on dressing up. I have all these romantic notions from my childhood about what nights at the theatre/club/casino/etc. are supposed to be like, and really snazzing up for Artist Series and mixing and mingling was the closest I could get to living that out. RE: Dress Code
I don't believe in the idea of being expected to "dress up" for church. However, I like to wear a suit and a tie.

For the King's Singers one year Hubby and I dressed as oddly as we could. He wore all brown - brown slacks, brown argyle vest, brown suit coat. I wore my two piece outfit from Togo, which had a long skirt. We got a few strange looks, but since everything checked, no one official approached us. RE: Dress Code
My husband likes having people dressed lots of different ways at church from suits to casual. That way if visitors come in, no matter how they're dressed, there will be someone wearing something similiar. That totally eclectic look is a little strange, and I do think someone might feel awkward dressed in a suit and tie next to a guy in shorts and a t-shirt. I like dressing up for church, but I don't like demanding it or assuming God loves me more if I do.
"Do not look so sad. We shall meet soon again.” “Please, Aslan,” said Lucy, “what do you call soon?” “I call all times soon,” said Aslan. |

RE: Dress Code
I've always worn a dress to church growing up.
If I ever go to church now to visit, I'll wear dress pants just to look nice. I still get a little queasy about wearing jeans to a service on a Sunday. I like dressing up though so that might be just me. I work in a hospital so I wear scrubs. I kind of get jealous when I see desk workers all dressed up. Oh well, at least I'm comfortable!
