Marvin was a bot? Why the surge in bots writing in poetic prose? There was another one recently that reminded me of a Haiku.

RE: Tips for weight loss.
Obviously can't diagnose the plateau without seeing you lift, and that might be difficult even if you were State-side (I don't think you are).
Only suggestions I offer are to keep your heels flat on the floor and make sure you get the depth of the squat. I'm sure you already to those, but the flat feet and using the tension in the hamstring made my lifting dramatically "easier" than before. Hope you power through soon. But what if you just don't care anymore?

Better yet, get yourself in front of a MOg and confess your apathy to his holiness. Maybe if you spent more time soul-winning and less time being mopey, things would be better. Amen?

RE: Tips for weight loss.
It's funny, I've been dealing with weight gain recently. The only way I got attention from my mother was through losing weight. That was the only time she'd brag on me. I once went on a five day fast as a teenager because I was trying to lose weight and nothing else would work. Now that I'm getting healthier with therapy and more positive mental habits, I've started losing control of my weight!!! I've always been trim. I've been a size 4-6 for about 10 years. But my motivator was always the same for losing weight. "You're ugly when you're fat. Your husband will leave you if you get fat. You don't deserve to be pretty if you're fat" Always I would use these negative voices to spur me to deny myself food so I could get closer to that "perfect woman" in my head. Now that I'm less susceptible to being motivated by self-loathing, I've gained about 10 pounds!!! I need to learn to lose weight with positive motivators...before I have to go and buy new clothes!! Hrmmm

Hrmmm Well.... Yes, it is a fine line. Who can say whether an athlete or whether anyone cuts weight for the love of the game or out of vanity or insecurity? It's often a mix of all of it. However, in MKxComm's case, keeping your weight down out of self-hate and insecurity crosses the line into unhelpful negativity. If you're motivated to lose weight for others, because you think that you're not enough for them, you'll never be happy with yourself. You can always lose more, there will always be another hotter girl who's skinnier that your husband may leave you for. Running self-hate messages in your head also runs the risk of applying self-hate messages in other areas of your life and identity. It's not healthy. The challenge is learning how to keep your weight at a healthy level because you care about yourself, not because you hate yourself. This doesn't come easily for women. |

RE: Tips for weight loss.
You will get a lot of advice, and your research will give you a lot of different directions.
Whatever course you take in your weight loss, you need to be committed to the point of being overcommitted. If M-W-F are your exercise days, you will cancel any other plans, and take no excuses from yourself. Your physical body will want to rebel - drag yourself to exercise even with your worst headache. The body must obey you, not the other way around. Coworkers meeting at Applebee's for lunch? The grilled chicken salad with light dressing will help you towards your goal. The cheeseburger and the plate of fries will not. The key is sacrifice and self-denial. It will shock your system. You will feel uncomfortable at times. But this is a new life for you, and in time, you will come to be quite proud of your work. And then, soon enough, you will wonder why you lived any other way. The Ark was built by a lone amateur, and the Titanic was built by an impressive group of professionals. |
