That's kind of sick. And people look forward to this being a joyous blessed hope of God's great goodness to humanity & earth. I thought about making a lame "rapturous" pun, but it' just pretty sick to paint a tragic disaster scene like that as if it were something to anticipate with glee.

No where in scripture is the judgment seat pictured as a great hope

I still wonder why Fundies still believe in a secret rapture even though there is nothing in Scripture that suggests it, even remotely.

RE: Y'all remember this painting?
BTW, I don't at all think that all or even most pre-trib rapture people are like this. Most will jump through all kinds of hoops to believe that a rapture would cause minimal to no such scenes of mass tragedy. To the point of inventing the "all airlines man flights with at least 1 atheist pilot" stories. Fastforwarding several minutes past the rapture and trying to capture mass tragedy as a joyous occasion just struck me as both intentional, and deeply blood thirsty.

Quote:Fastforwarding several minutes past the rapture and trying to capture mass tragedy as a joyous occasion just struck me as both intentional, and deeply blood thirsty. IMO, sadism probably isn't the motivation behind this painting. More likely the desire to scare the hell out of people and "win some souls." This painting traumatized me as a kid, and was one of the reasons I prayed "to get saved" at least once a day...
