Why is it all about heaven with these guys? The Jews weren't really concerned about the afterlife, and Jesus promised us abundant life now (abundant LIFE not wealth - big difference), and spoke more about life today and the eternal life he offers us starting right now, not just when we leave this fleshsuit (that sounds so gross). And since He is that eternal life, it's all about Him, not Heaven. I may have said this here, or maybe I said it elsewhere, but the only reason I want to go to heaven when I die is because the physical presence of Jesus is there.

Yes, all the obsession with the afterlife can really rob one's life of the here and now. And it's a shame when it robs your youth. How many of us were obsessed with death starting around age 5 or 6?

I got really into Chick tracts when they were introduced to me by a high school friend. He was not a fundy. He was though, what one would call your stereotypical public high school Jesus freak, with Bible always in hand, always wanting to talk about Jesus. Apparently though, he was one of the seeds that fell on the rocky soil, because his enthusiasm went away and I'm told he is no longer a church-goer. Perhaps he is one lurking on this board, I don't know.

I bought into all of Chick's wacky ideas until one girl said something that made me think. Not sure where she came from, but apparently she came from some strange society where people ask questions and think for themselves. She pointed out that when Chick has a footnote to prove his point, the footnote tells you to read another book written by him or his people. Hmmm. I still remember where I was when she told me that, and how it made me think.

OK, How, exactly is this supposed to work? You don't want to just leave your smart phone sitting around, like you would a tract. Are you going to force your victim to sit through a presentation on your phone??

Seeing the QR code on their screen makes me think that a more effective method would be to leave a card with some cryptic message and a QR code that takes you to an online tract on their own smart phone.

...of course, this would also work for porn and all sorts of malware.
