"worldview weekend"
Ok, one of the more fundamentalist type people in our church has been really pushing this Worldview Weekend stuff. Apparently, the entire family Bible camp was centered around it. He's brought in videos. DVDs. Brannon Howse is the guy who is behind the organization...

I took the quiz on the worldview weekend site and found out I was a liberal. Pretty sure it said socialist somewhere too. Told me I needed spiritual help.

To me, telling people that their "worldview" needs correcting seems VERY close to brainwashing. It's conformity and control.

Has anyone else heard of this? It kinda gives me the creeps. Does this sound like fundamentalist theology?

RE: "worldview weekend"
ok I took this and found it entertaining.

I am Moderate in civil government, economics, family, law, and social issues. A Strong Biblical Thinker in religion and science. And despite my K-12 Christian education plus 6 years of Bob Jones University I scored Secular Humanist in education. I think it's because one question tripped me up in its wording and I meant the opposite of what I answered.

it took me a few minutes to find the test, which is here: http://www.worldviewweekend.com/test/register.php

Oh, and the proper answer for what you're going to do now to improve your score is, go to their seminar, then take the test again and you should do better. If you get a perfect score you get a prize.

Is this thing Tea Party endorsed?

RE: "worldview weekend"
92% Strong Biblical Worldview. (Actually I was slightly miffed - that would be an A- if it were a grade in school, but I mostly got scored lower for marking "tend to" instead of "strongly" on some questions. And I'm pretty happy with my "tend to" answers even if they aren't.)

Now I'm waiting for all the stuff they'll send to my email address. Sad

RE: "worldview weekend"
I got well into the negative numbers. It's OK, Phatchick, and Bean, we can be not-measuring-up friends. Tongue

This survey is terribly written. The questions are leading, contain misinformation (like the stupid question asking whether money is the root of all evil, when the Bible says the love of money is the root of all evil--just trying to catch people? why? not to mention the complete lack of understanding of opposing opinions), and are generally great examples of what you should never do in a survey (if you want accurate results). Then again, it's clearly written for and by Christians as advertising for the Worldview products, not to gather information. I like how they tell you the correct answers afterward, along with suggesting their product at every point. Don't forget, we need to make money off of you! Smile

I think fundies generally like this. I've heard Summit recommended before. It's just another rehash of the religious right, politics mixed with Bible in a delightful theonomist-dominionist stew. Where's the vomit-smiley again?

I mean, seriously: Ken Ham? David Barton? Not-even-trying-to-disguise-the-racism David Noebel? Tim LaHaye? Soon-to-be-listed-as-hate-group Gary DeMar? I'm so glad this group of people apparently thinks Christians aren't accountable to US law. Can't tell you how safe that makes me feel.

All that to say, Bean: yes, this is real creepy. Telling someone they're not a good enough Christian or not right with God (or even just that they're not biblical enough) simply because they hold different doctrinal or political beliefs is wrong and incredibly arrogant.
