I'm watching the Anderson Cooper episode right now. So sad that the churches aren't doing more to expose this. Sad

Maybe I missed part of the story, but I'd really like to know what the bias in that report was?

I think a big majority of non christians have no idea there's a difference between an evangelical and a fundy. I don't really blame them - large as the gap may seem to many of us, there's certainly a lot of blurring along the edges. Especially with ideologies like the patriarchy movement popping up among many who were just garden variety conservative evangelicals.

Yeah, that's not really what the bias was and they did get the difference. They seemed rather appalled that people believe the Bible.

is the whole thing available for online viewing? I could only seem to see a bit of it on the show's website.

You know what, I don't care if this expose isn't "balanced" enough for you people, and this is coming from somebody who gets all up in arms about subjective vs objective reporting. There are young women out there who are being TORTURED right now. Girls are being beaten and starved, and that's the tame side. And the government is just letting this happen! This is happening in the United States! This is insane!

So y'know what, if in the process of these women being liberated I'm ridiculed for my participation in Christianity, let it be. So what if people call me names and make immature jokes about my beliefs? Some girl inside one of these facilities RIGHT NOW is being tortured and shamed in the name of God, while I'm cozy in my bedroom, with the freedom to drink when I want, use the bathroom when I want, eat what I want, all these things that I take for granted. I think I can handle a bit of teasing.

We all have our own inner angry natives and our minds invent a million ways to avoid confronting them directly. But if you just look them in the eye and ask them why they're chasing you with spears you just might learn something about yourself.

The problem is, when real christians see the report and its obvious bias, will they believe the truth about the torture and act to stop it? The report wasn't truthful in the bias, so why should it be trusted with the rest of the message.

It's not that nobody cares what's happening, but often (especially in Australia, I don't know what it's like elsewhere) current affairs type shows are not known for their accurate reporting. When a reporter does a dodgy job and gives a report with an obvious bias, everyone then wonders whether the rest of their message is true. Which means the whole report is less effective. This is very sad; any victims deserve justice and this abuse needs to stop! It is terrible if the reporter has failed them by simply allowing their personal bias to get in the way of factual reporting.

I saw the ads for this before it aired and was totally interested since I've researched lots of these "behavior modification facilities" around the US.

Does anybody have links for the full shows?

I think that this might barely even ruffle IFB feathers at most since they don't really watch or approve of CNN anyway. I'd like to see how that investigation went though! Cool
