RE: Game: Devil's Advocate!
But how can I be IN church when the people are the church? Where is the building sanctified as the only place Christians can meet? In Acts, the believers met daily and went from house to house.
I would disagree with being in the church every time the doors are open - which means Sunday school, Sunday morning worship, Sunday evening service, Wednesday prayer meeting, Thursday visitation, Friday choir practice, and Saturday cleaning time (as well as the Tuesday night women's Bible study), because it actually keeps Christians so busy doing "churchy" things that we are not actually obeying the clear commands of Scripture - like teaching Biblical principles to your children. How can you teach your kids when you're at church that many times during the week? I also disagree that the good works we are to be doing are met in simply handing out tracts, cleaning the church building, and practicing with the choir. While those are good things, they again often keep us so busy that we fail to actually help the needy as Matthew 25 describes. (See? We didn't need a special debate forum? We already had a thread for it; we'd just forgotten about it!) "Do not look so sad. We shall meet soon again.” “Please, Aslan,” said Lucy, “what do you call soon?” “I call all times soon,” said Aslan. |
