RE: KJV Declaration
Was not the KJV originally for the Church of England, which came out of the Catholic Church? How can fundys trust it to be real?

RE: KJV Declaration
I've been studying the Word of Faith movement. They also love the KJV and some of their cherished doctrines are based on the KJV text because if they used a more modern (and understandable) version or consulted more than one, they could not teach the nonsense that they do. One great example of this is Isaiah 45:11 Thus saith the LORD, the Holy One of Israel, and his Maker, Ask me of things to come concerning my sons, and concerning the work of my hands command ye me. They use this verse to teach that we can "Command God" (I know it sounds crazy but some DO teach this). Whereas if they read it in almost any other version, they would not come to this erroneous conclusion. The RSV is a good case in point: Thus says the LORD, the Holy One of Israel, and his Maker: "Will you question me about my children, or command me concerning the work of my hands?

"Where ignorance is bliss, 'Tis folly to be wise." Thomas Gray

I was exposed to a preacher who did both.

All whose whereases--it seems like they were trying to write on the same level of awe-inspiring style as the writers of the Declaration of Independence...and went ka-splat.

RE: KJV Declaration
The KJVO has become the unifying and spiritual hammer through which some claim spiritual superiority over other groups. It unifies their people and endows the leaders with additional authority claimed over all the alleged inferior non KJVO churches and institutions. In reality most KJVO and TRO leaders are claiming a preservation process that needs a post Apostolic endorsement based upon post Apostolic inspiration not unlike the Mormons, or other cults that go historically beyond the Apostles endorsements. Such are also claiming that which was given uniquely to the Jews (Rom. 3:1-2). The only non Jewish inspired conveyer of the Oracles of God was Luke who had his writings endorsed by the living Jewish Apostles. The Apostolic authority was to the originals. All copies and versions become historical witnesses to the originals with authority based upon their remarkable conveying of all truth the from God with no error that alters. This is so even though there are no two manuscripts or fragments that are 100% alike.

One can cite all the preservation scripture they like. But unless the scriptures themselves actually name the manuscripts or versions then additional information must be gathered from outside scripture. It then become every man's conjecture and conclusion based on non scriptural evidence.

Praise God for true historical witness as seen in the normal historiography of the writings. This becomes true historical evidence regarding the facts of history as evidenced in scripture and of the historical nature of Christ and the gospel. The death, burial, and resurrection of Christ are indeed the most well attested facts within human history.

The KJVO magic book approach has no complete foundation as basis and insults the normal human intelligence as endowed to man by God. This is a deceptive fraud just like the Charismatic movement. However those who are KJVO and TRVO do have the true Gospel and do bring souls to Christ. God uses His Gospel in the midst of confusion and carnality. For this we can be thankful yet maintain no common ministry with them.
