RE: Dating for Recovering Fundies
I really embraced the whole dating thing once I unfundified. I love every bit of it. The 100 outfit changes before the date, worrying like crazy that you would do something that would turn the other person off, crossing your fingers that might ensure the blind date you just agreed to go on would be hot, the akward kiss if you felt the date went really well, the anxiety if waiting for the other person to call, the nailbiting to keep yourself from calling ther person you liked the very next day..... *sigh* I love it!!!
I'm out of the dating scene now. I don't think my boyfriend would appreciate it. I met him through one of co-workers. He's her bro-in-law. We never even had the "we're official" talk. It just happened. Don't even have an anniversary.I think he's "the one".

I enjoyed learning stuff when I was dating. Because of my fundy background I had a high view of kissing and other such physical contact. My first kiss was kind of a funny story. We had been dating for about a month and I was sitting with her on the couch at her house one night. I decided to tell her that I loved her (first time doing that too) and she was all happy about that. I told her that I was kind of slow on physical stuff like kissing so she shouldn't worry if it took me a while. As I'm saying this, we're spooning on the couch so I had at least gotten that part down pretty well. ![]() A little while later we're still exactly where we were and I realized that I really, really wanted to kiss her. But she was laying there with her eyes closed and I thought it would be bad form to do it when she wasn't expecting it. So I waited for what seemed like forever until she opened her eyes and looked at me. I leaned over and went to kiss her but froze before I got there and then backed off. She laughed and teased me a little for choking but then she took pity on me and gave me a couple of kisses on the edge to coax it out of me. It didn't take much convincing and I landed it that time around. The then shortly introduced me to french kissing and I had the most amazing night! I was originally planning on going home around midnight but we didn't finish until almost five in the morning so I just slept on the couch. So that's the story of how I shed several hangups (I love you, kissing, french kissing) all in one night. boymom: What in the thelogical region of eternal punishment is a daddy-daughter ball? amyrose5:No one is in charge around here. It was definitely a memorable experience. boymom: What in the thelogical region of eternal punishment is a daddy-daughter ball? amyrose5:No one is in charge around here. Except maybe the rabbit. I'm really glad Senda Wales started this thread, 'cause I was too much of a fraidy-cat to do it myself.
I'm finding others' insights on the topic very interesting, though. 'Preciate it.

RE: Dating for Recovering Fundies
Hmm. I am now on exchange in the States for half a year. I know a long-distance r/s is difficult, but I'd like to do my best and find someone over here. Should I give it an attempt? Are there any successful attempts you have heard of and any advice?
An outstanding project in progress, by the Grace of God. |

Me - Chicago, he - California. And this was before the Internet. Lots of letters and phone calls. Helped that my dad worked for MCI at the time.

He has to get the call FIRST then you can be called. Deciding for yourself that you are called to be a pastor's wife is very un-submissive even if there is currently no one to whom you can submit, AMEN?
