Dating for Recovering Fundies

RE: Dating for Recovering Fundies
FWIW, I don't recall the guy I'm currently with using any pick-up lines on me, though apparently he did compliment me on my shoes, but I don't remember that. A couple of the guys from my gym really wanted to know what lines he used to actually get me to notice him. I said he didn't use any lines, unless "Hi" is a line. He was just attractive, nice, fun, cool, and interesting to talk to. They seemed really surprised that the guy didn't have any lines.

RE: Dating for Recovering Fundies
I messaged the girl I dated first for a 2nd time (waited for 4-5 days before messaging her), and it's been about 1-2 days already, and I was ignored... probably means she's not interested. Just asked her for a simple date and if she was free... did I do ok or was I desperate?

An outstanding project in progress, by the Grace of God.

Maybe you could just call and (if she doesn't answer) leave a "hey how you doing" message on her phone. If she responds then at least you'll get an answer and if she doesn't, it's kinda hard to ignore texts AND voicemail so she might be avoiding you at that point.

If you have her FB you could also do a PM.

RE: Dating for Recovering Fundies
I think you may have waited too long.... 4-5 days (that's almost a week) would tell me that YOU'RE not interested and I wouldn't appreciate being played/toyed around with by being messaged (kinda lame) almost a week later. Next time just try to set up the 2nd date after the 1st date, or get in touch with her within 1-2 days to set it up.

In any case, if she didn't like you, then she didn't like you.

I've been using this line:

"Hey do you have any Scots-Irish in you?"

"No."

"Would you like some?"

So far all it's gotten me is slapped twice. And price negotations three times but that was downtown.

I love cheesy, inappropriate pickup lines like these! I think if a guy actually has the guts to say them, he's someone worth checking out. I don't find them offensive.

I agree. When guy waits that long, it seems as he he views you as an after though or as someone you're interested in only when there's nothing else to do. Level-headed girls don't like playing games or waiting on someone.

lol, I think I'm the opposite. They just freak me out. I think what's going on in my head is - if a guy is willing to treat me obviously like a pick-up object and say something crass to me as my first impression of him, then I'm going to assume he's going to be crass the whole time and that's his entire intention. Not interested. So I like them a little more subtle than that.

Actually, I was joking. I don't use lines, but if I were going to I think I'd come straight out with something vulgar or sexually suggestive like the one I just posted.

Most lines are absolutely lame. Girls do not respond to them because they are clever. They respond because the guy is making his intentions clear. And if you're going to do that, might as well go for the kill in my view.
