Not sure where they were getting their music, but it wasn't from Christian Top 40, which is good but I was disappointed because I wanted to sing along and didn't know any!
Lol every now and then we'll end up getting to church a little early and have to stand through the songs and my wife will suprise me by actually knowing one of them and singining it with them!Big Grin

I can always tell because she get's that "guilty" look on her face with a smile when she recognizes it. I would've been crucified if I learned any of those on the piano while I was IFB pianist. Tongue

RE: Transitioning from IFB Music to ________
I have found that each church has their own set of preferred artists, so that artists' songs are the ones typically played. There was a little overlap between 4 different churches I visited after leaving my original ifb church, but not much.

I'm finding after years of BJU style music that I just can't get syncopation. The song "Your Grace Is Enough" is a great song which I really love. The chorus is easy, but I CANNOT get the rhythm of the verses quite right. I sing along with it on the radio but when I sit at the piano I still am not getting the timing exactly right. I wonder if you can really teach old dogs new tricks?
I have this same problem. I would like to leave my old Rudy Attwood style hymn playing behind and learn how to play a more contemporary style.
